CBD is derived from hemp, a plant belonging to the Cannabaceae family. While many cannabis plants are cultivated for their high THC content, hemp plants are grown for their CBD content and low THC levels (less than 0.3%). Moreover, the CBD used in products is extracted from parts of the plants, like the flowers and leaves, through methods like CO2 extraction, which uses pressurised carbon dioxide to isolate the CBD from other plant compounds.
