Endometriosis in Jersey and the Channel Islands is still misunderstood. Discover how Lyphe Clinic Jersey and specialists Dr Sheila Richards and Dr Leonard Mirvis are helping women find relief and real answers.

A Hidden Health Crisis in the Channel Islands

A growing outcry in Jersey is shedding light on a long-neglected issue, endometriosis and the widespread dismissal of women’s pelvic pain.

According to a recent article by the Jersey Evening Post, Kate Fry, founder of Endometriosis Jersey, is urging the States of Jersey Government for urgent action to overhaul how women’s pain is treated.

She says too many women on the Island “are still being dismissed,” often waiting years for diagnosis and specialist treatment.

If severe period symptoms are still not being taken seriously… women are being left in pain and without answers.” Kate Fry

Fry’s comments echo the experiences of many women across Jersey and the Channel Islands who are living with chronic pelvic pain, often for years, without diagnosis or relief.

This Isn’t Just a Jersey Problem, It’s a National One

Fry’s appeal comes on the heels of a UK parliamentary inquiry published in late 2024 found that “medical misogyny” is contributing to widespread neglect condemning thousands of women to needless suffering due to systemic failings in gynaecological care.

It called for:

  • Greater funding for women’s health hubs
  • Shorter wait times for specialists
  • Improved training for healthcare professionals

The findings mirror the situation in Jersey, where women are still waiting too long to be taken seriously or referred to a specialist.

What our Lyphe Clinic Patients say:

Lyphe and medical cannabis has changed my life. I have endometriosis so suffer from chronic pain, nausea and sickness, as well as migraines around my period.”

The cannabis stops my migraines in their tracks (seriously!) and give me a safer pain relief than NSAIDS which have given me stomach ulcers. 100% recommend!
