Complex care, also known as long-term or continuing care, provides essential support to patients struggling with enduring healthcare challenges. This encompasses illnesses or disabilities that may develop following hospital treatment. Specialist care of this nature is vital for improving individuals’ quality of life, promoting independence, activity, and a sense of control over their health.
Gastroenterological conditions encompass ailments affecting the digestive system, from the oesophagus, the stomach, the intestines, to the rectum and anus. They are prevalent, with one in every 200 individuals in the UK having some form of inflammatory bowel disease, just one subset of this condition. Symptoms can vary widely and significantly impact quality of life.
Neurological conditions encompass a broad spectrum of illnesses or issues affecting the nervous system, ranging from brain injuries to degenerative diseases. Current estimates suggest that approximately 16.5 million individuals in the UK live with neurological conditions. Many of these conditions often go untreated or undetected initially due to the complexities involved in diagnosis.
UK Medical cannabis can offer effective pain relief for chronic pain conditions, improving sufferers’ quality of life and symptom management. Unlike traditional painkillers, it presents a promising alternative without significant side effects. With over eight million chronic pain sufferers in the UK, medical cannabis emerges as a vital source of relief, enhancing functionality and well-being.
Palliative care, sometimes referred to as end-of-life care, encompasses supportive treatment and care provided to patients with terminal illnesses. Its primary goal is to enhance patients’ quality of life and promote their engagement in meaningful activities. With a focus on patient comfort and well-being, medical cannabis can offer effective treatment options.
Roughly one in four people in the UK face mental health challenges, emphasising the prevalence of psychiatric conditions. Medical cannabis offers promising relief for symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression when traditional treatments prove insufficient. Research supports the effectiveness of THC and CBD in managing various anxiety disorders and OCD, with CBD providing calming effects.
Medical cannabis offers a promising alternative for women seeking relief from health conditions often overlooked by traditional healthcare. Cannabinoids rebalancing the endocannabinoid system have demonstrated effectiveness in managing various women’s health issues, including menopause, period pain, PMS, endometriosis, and pelvic pain.
