In accordance with Cancard’s agreement with the police, all Cancard applicants need to have a valid form of photographic ID.
Accepted Identification:
To apply, you will need to upload both your Summary Care Record and your Lyphe Clinic medical cannabis prescription to the Cancard portal.
You can either take a photo of your documents or scan them as a PDF (size permitting). If you encounter any issues, please contact support@cancard.co.uk.
You will need a clear photo of your head and shoulders, similar to a passport-style photo (however, you can smile!) This photo can be taken on a phone, selfie style if needed.
You will need to know and input your NHS number in the Cancard Application form (CHI number if in Scotland). If you do not have access to your NHS number, you can verify your number here.
Cancard is a physical card, so will be shipped to your home address, so please ensure your address is correct, including the full postcode to avoid any delays.
Cancard process approvals daily (except for weekends), so you should not have to wait longer than 3-4 days to receive your approval.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email from Cancard. Although the physical card may take 2-3 weeks to arrive, a digital copy will be available 24 hours after approval. Instructions on how to obtain the digital card will be emailed directly to you.
