Frequently Asked Questions

We want you to be fully informed

Is the medication prescribed at the clinics legal?

Yes. All medicines prescribed through Lyphe Clinic are fully legal in the UK and regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Medical cannabis was legalised for prescription by specialist doctors in November 2018. It can only be prescribed by a medical specialist who considers the latest evidence and clinical guidelines alongside your individual diagnoses and conditions.

Our clinicians only prescribe licensed or legally imported cannabis-based medicines that meet strict quality and safety standards.

How do I know if medical cannabis can help me?

Medical cannabis may be considered if other treatments haven’t worked well or cause unwanted side effects. Evidence shows it can help with certain conditions such as chronic pain, muscle stiffness in multiple sclerosis, some forms of epilepsy, and nausea linked to chemotherapy.

The benefits vary from person to person, depending on your health, the type of product (THC, CBD, or a mix), and how your body responds. The best way to know is to speak with our specialist doctors, who can review your situation and advise whether a carefully monitored trial of medical cannabis might be right for you.

Simply start by taking our eligibility quizz to see if Lyphe Clinic treatments are suitable for your condition. Once you’ve passed the quizz, a member of our clinic team will be in contact with you to take you though getting your Summary of Care Record, before we can triage you in an online appointment with a clinician.

Is medical cannabis addictive?

Medical cannabis can carry a small risk of dependence, but this risk is lower than with recreational use, especially when treatment is prescribed and monitored by a clinical specialist.

In general cannabis use, about 1 in 10 people may develop dependence over time, with higher rates among frequent or heavy users. At Lyphe Clinic, your treatment is carefully managed with the right THC/CBD balance for your condition and its severity, regular peer reviews and follow-up appointments to minimise this risk. CBD-only products have little to no potential for addiction.

How do you choose what products will work best?

The right medical cannabis product depends on your condition, symptoms, severity and how your body responds. Our doctors consider whether THC, CBD, or a combination is most suitable, as well as the best form, such as oils, capsules or dried flower.

We start with the lowest effective dose and adjust gradually (“start low, go slow”) while monitoring your progress. This careful, personalised approach helps us find the product and balance that provides relief with the fewest side effects for you.
